Background

As an OB-GYN nurse practitioner, Mindy cared for women through pregnancy and birth every day, while she and her husband spent years trying to conceive, working with multiple fertility clinics. That experience, and the arrival of their son, is why Awaiting the Stork exists: to give women evidence-based, compassionate guidance through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding.

How Mindy reviews our content

  • A post shows “Medically reviewed by Mindy Motta, FNP-C” and a review date only after she has read the final text. Posts she hasn’t reviewed don’t carry her name.
  • Clinical statements are checked against primary sources such as ACOG, the CDC, the FDA, the NIH’s LactMed database and peer-reviewed research, and those sources are listed at the end of each post.
  • Product recommendations are made on their merits. Some links earn us a commission; that never decides what we recommend, and every product we feature includes an honest note about its limits.
  • Reviewed posts are re-checked when guidance changes. If you spot an error, tell us and we’ll correct it.
