Baby sleep & soothing

Newborn sleep is less about gadgets than it is about a safe, boring setup: baby on their back, on a firm flat mattress, in their own clear space. What is here supports that rather than replacing it. Swaddles and sleep sacks for the startle reflex, white noise for a house that is never actually quiet, a breathable crib mattress, and a swing for the hours when nothing else buys you both a break.

One thing worth knowing before you buy a swaddle: you stop swaddling the moment your baby shows signs of rolling, usually somewhere around eight to twelve weeks, and move to a sleep sack with the arms free. Swings and loungers are for supervised awake time, not for sleep. If your baby's sleep genuinely worries you, that is a conversation for your pediatrician rather than a purchase.
